WINTER STORM WARNING NOW COVERS VERY LARGE AREA IN THE UPPER-MID-WEST AREA & AR AND CAROLINAS WSW.

A Winter Storm Warning now covers a very large area in the Upper-Mid-West States. From the Dakotas down into Iowa, Minnesota and down into Ilinois and Missouri, there are winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories in effect for very heavy blowing and drifting snowfall. As this strong Alberta Clipper System moves through the area, weather data is now predicting slightly heavier amounts of snow and a wider range of snowfall accumulations as well. Confidence is now there that a powerful winter storm will affect this area shortly. Precipitation is already developing into Canada and is moving into North Dakota at this time. Arkansas in the northern areas are under a Winter Storm Watch ahead of this same storm system as well. The Carolinas and portions of northeast Georgia are under a Winter Storm Watch as well for heavy, heavy snowfall and a potential ICE STORM!


Accumulating snow will occur in these areas also with up to 12 inches of snow in some locations. Here are my expected snow totals maps below:
